Further Video reaserch

Daniel Askill -We have decided not to die
I'm really not sure how i feel about this video by Daniel Askill. I watched through split figures as the audio made me nervous and jumpy. In fact in some parts of the video i was frightened but as soon as i cancelled the audio they became just strange unsettling images to me. The first figure featured in the pool without the audio was quite relaxing to watch but with audio again unsettling and inquisitive. The video shows a narrative and takes you thought 3 individual stories which all seem to link . I like the use of slow motion in some parts as i feel it adds suspense but i have also learnt not to over use it as in some other parts of the video i felt were just being dragged on . On just watching the video i honestly don't really have to much of a clue as to what the concept is and whats really going on but i still choose to sit and watch all 11 minutes 16 seconds of it because i couldn't turn it off.  The power of audio really stays with me from this video and has taught me the importance of matching the correct audio with my filming to create a video that's can effect the viewer as strongly as this has done me . He also experiments with short and fast , close and far ,still and moving clips which add to the overall experience for the viewer.

Gone Goodbye is a short film written by Tyler Wilson. Although shot and narrated beautifully i found the place to slow for my liking. The symbolism behind the big yellow balloon could be read in different ways , i think after watching people will have there own personal outcome of the video. After watching the short film i started to look into the background and i found the credits quite interesting.PRODUCTION CREW

As you can see above look at the amount of people and responsibilities go into making that nearly 5 minute video. When it comes to creating mine its almost going to be a one man show I have to fill most of the positions above , so the amount of work put into our videos is huge. Also the opening shot of this short is filmed from an areal point of view. It looks innovative and different . Turning an ordinary sight such as a car driving down the road interesting. I'm excited to experiment with different ways of filming.

Sigur Ros  by Ryan Mcginley
I have mixed feelings about this video the first half i really enjoyed but when nothing really happened i became bored waiting. The direction and photography of the piece is beautiful and up lifting. It stirs childhood memories and also is peaceful and enjoyable. I like the antithetical style of the video with the busy backdrop of new york city and the young girl just skipping carelessly. I like the overall style but i feel the content is not to my liking and is to long. Its all about keeping the viewer absorbed with the narrative you are telling and keeping them interested compelling them to watch all of the video and hopefully provoke thought and understanding post watching the short film .

Heinz 'i love winter' soup campaign video.
I know this isn't a short film and just a TV advert but i feel i could include it in my research. The overall tone of the AD is heartwarming , feel good and homely. I like how the editor has used a mix of both music and voice over and how the imagery cleverly plays on the the script. Its also colourful , playful and enjoyable to watch. For a soup advert its pretty lovely.
