Proposal

Add on army 

For our 30 -180 second video that is themed around point of view. I would like to express my point of view on the female beauty routine. I would like to concentrate on the irony on how beauty is in fact become ugly using current trends and styles.

Concept

I recently went on a staff night out with the other bar/ waitress staff , the majority of the girls were younger than me and I realised similar behaviour and styles in all the girls that I can relate to and almost everybody I know will engage in these before a night out on the town. I found it became quite humorous to me thinking of what girls do to make them presentable for either the opposite sex or accepted in the club environment. Simple things like make up, hair styling and slightly more revealing clothing a standard ritual in pre drinking preparation . But I noticed in the younger girls that there are new things to help them stand out and ‘pretty’ themselves that I actually found ugly and un-nessasery . Fake hair extensions ( grow your own hair I think), Fake eyelashes (they look alien on your face) Fake boobs which resemble uncooked poultry and hold me in pants, which are by far the most uncomfortable things ever to be invented as underwear. Are these ‘add ons’ attractive if you strip away the loud music and mood lighting? I can 100% say no and I think I speak for the majority when saying this. Natural beauty should be embraced rather than becoming a part of a makeup fake army taking over the night. By no means am I suggesting that any of the above is wrong and I don’t want my final piece to be a negative video I want my video to be humorous so that women can relate to it at be able to laugh at themselves.

Inspiration and style

My greatest inspiration is the Dexter titles as I like the bold playful suggestive manner. Like the titles I would like my video to consist of extreme close up, panning backwards to reveal a funny twist on the original close up. I want it to be suttle humour with a feel good reflective overall tone. I just want to poke fun at a very current fashion.

Research

Like all other project will be researching in depth the concepts I have mentioned upon above.  Looking at other photographers, videographers and current debates surrounding my chosen concept I will shape my concept more solidly.  But by doing this I am well aware that my ideas will most doubt quickly start to take shape and then I can start recording.
